  • Two Christmas premieres: On 27th November Bedford Preparatory School's senior choir conducted by Charles Martin gave the first performance of Shepherds, a new dramatic cantata based on 'The Chandlers Play' from the York Mysteries. On 7th December the school's chapel choir conducted by Andrew Morris with Jeremy Rouse playing the organ premiered Fisherman's Carol as part of the school's service of nine lessons and carols. The carol service was recorded for broadcast on Christmas Day by BBC Radio Beds Herts Bucks.

 

  • On 15th May John Lofthouse and Stephen Rose gave the premiere of This Lunar Beauty, a setting of W. H. Auden composed to commemorate the centenary of the poet's birth. Their concert in was part of the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music.

 

  • The annual MMA conference (11th-13th May) saw the premieres of two new pieces by Tim Watts, as well as featuring music by Paul Patterson and Bedford School pupil and NYO composer, Nick Martin. Nick was also the oboist in the Rhapsody for oboe and piano, while the school's chapel choir sang a new introit, Vocem iucunditatis.
